As a foreigner living in Las Terrenas, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Las Terrenas if they have access to public healthcare in Las Terrenas. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Las Terrenas, you may have access to public healthcare, but it is important to note that the quality and availability of services may vary. Public healthcare in the Dominican Republic is generally considered to be of lower quality compared to private healthcare facilities. Public hospitals and clinics may be overcrowded, have long waiting times, and may lack necessary equipment and medications. It is recommended for foreigners to obtain private health insurance and seek medical care at private hospitals and clinics, which tend to offer better quality services and facilities," commented one expat who made the move to Las Terrenas, the Dominican Republic.
