What do I need to know before moving to Trincity?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Trincity, they said:

"Before moving to Trincity, expats should know that English is the official language, but the local dialect can sometimes be difficult to understand. The cost of living is relatively high compared to other Caribbean countries, especially for housing and imported goods. The local currency is the Trinidad and Tobago dollar, and while US dollars are accepted in some places, it's best to have local currency on hand. Trincity is a planned community with a lot of amenities, including a large shopping mall, golf course, and several restaurants. It's located near the Piarco International Airport, making it convenient for travel. However, traffic can be heavy, especially during rush hour, and public transportation is not always reliable. The climate is tropical, with a wet season from June to December and a dry season from January to May. It can be quite hot and humid, so lightweight, breathable clothing is recommended. Healthcare in Trinidad & Tobago is of a good standard, but it's advisable to have comprehensive health insurance. Expats should also be aware that certain vaccinations may be required or recommended before moving. The crime rate in Trincity is lower than in other parts of Trinidad, but expats should still take precautions to ensure their safety. This includes avoiding certain areas at night, not displaying wealth openly, and securing homes and vehicles. Trinidad & Tobago has a rich and diverse culture, with influences from Africa, India, Europe, and the Americas. Expats should respect local customs and traditions, and take the time to learn about the country's history and culture. Finally, while Trincity is a relatively modern and developed area, expats should be prepared for occasional power outages and water shortages, which can occur throughout Trinidad & Tobago," commented one expat who made the move to Trincity.
