Additionally, Sharjah is a conservative city, so visitors should be mindful of local customs and dress modestly. Expats should also be aware that Sharjah is a car-dependent city, so having a car is essential for getting around. Finally, expats should be aware that the cost of living in Sharjah is relatively low compared to other cities in the UAE," remarked one expat who made the move to Sharjah.
