What do I need to know before moving to New York?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to New York, they said:

"New York City is an exciting and vibrant place to live, but it can also be overwhelming. Before moving to New York, it is important to research the different neighborhoods and find one that best suits your lifestyle. It is also important to consider the cost of living, as it is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Additionally, it is important to familiarize yourself with the public transportation system, as it is the most efficient way to get around the city. Finally, it is important to be aware of the city's culture and customs, as it is a melting pot of different cultures and backgrounds," said one expat in New York.
