How do I find a place to live in St. Petersburg?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"My wife is Russian, so I'm not typical of most expats. She always wanted to live on Vassilievsky Island, and a few years ago she negotiated a very complex chain of stae-owned flat trades to end up with a completely trashed empty 5-room communal flat in the neighborhood. I don't know how she did it (and I don't think I want to). We subsequently gutted the place and renovated it," said one expat in St. Petersburg.

"When looking for a place to live in St. Petersburg, it is important to consider elements such as budget, location, and size of the residence. Searching various housing websites like Zillow and Trulia can be helpful in finding the right place that suits your needs. You can also attend open houses to experience the residence and area firsthand. Additionally, contacting local real estate agents may be beneficial in finding the perfect place to live. Other options include shopping around in newspapers or even on popular classifieds sites such as Craigslist. Lastly, be sure to check on zoning regulations in the area to ensure the residence is compliant before signing a contract," remarked one member in St. Petersburg.
