Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics or religion with locals, as it may lead to uncomfortable conversations. Do not assume everyone speaks English, and make an effort to learn some basic Spanish phrases to show respect for the local language. Be punctual for appointments and social gatherings, as Costa Ricans appreciate punctuality.
