What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Jeddah?

Answer this Question

We asked people in Jeddah if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!...

"In Jeddah, it is important to be mindful of cultural norms and customs. It is important to dress modestly, especially for women, and to avoid public displays of affection. It is also important to respect the local religion and not to criticize or make jokes about it. Additionally, it is important to be aware of the local laws and customs regarding alcohol and drug use, as these are strictly prohibited. Finally, it is important to be respectful of the local culture and to avoid making any comments that could be seen as offensive or disrespectful," remarked another expat who made the move to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
