What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in Trincity. They wrote...
"Expats in Trincity often find the local dialect, a unique blend of English, African, Indian, and Spanish influences, challenging to understand and use. The laid-back, 'island time' attitude can also be a significant adjustment for those used to a more fast-paced, punctual lifestyle. The high crime rate, particularly in certain areas, can be a concern for expats, making personal safety a constant consideration. The heat and humidity of the tropical climate can also be difficult to adjust to, particularly for those from cooler climates. Additionally, expats may find it challenging to navigate the local bureaucracy, which can be slow and inefficient. Lastly, while Trinidadians are generally friendly and welcoming, cultural differences and local customs can sometimes lead to misunderstandings or feelings of isolation among expats," remarked another expat who made the move to Trincity, Trinidad & Tobago.
