If you have not spent a lot of time in Hong Kong, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision...

"Buying a home in Hong Kong can be a great investment, as property prices in the city are generally high and have been steadily increasing over the years. However, it is important to consider the cost of living in Hong Kong, which is also quite high. Renting a home in Hong Kong can be a more affordable option, as it allows you to live in the city without having to commit to a long-term purchase. Additionally, renting gives you the flexibility to move to a different area if your needs change. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Hong Kong depends on your individual circumstances and budget," wrote a member who made the move to Hong Kong.
