Having a Baby Abroad

Being pregnant and giving birth abroad can be a bit unnerving. If you've had a baby abroad, share your experiences with other parents-to-be. Your insight will help to prepare them -- and hopefully calm their nerves.

As a way of helping digital nomads research life abroad, Expat Exchange uses advice shared in our Expat Report Series to create articles that aggregate information about specific topics relevant to international relocation. We never include private information when we do this. Even though we NEVER sell, rent, or share our members private information, please consider carefully what private or personal information you share with others in our Expat Reports. Read more

Which country are you reporting about?

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

How recently did you give birth in the country that you are reporting on?

Describe your experience giving birth there. What type of facility did you go to? What (if any) type of pain management did you use? How long did you stay in the hospital? Was it a positive experience? Etc...

How did you choose your doctor, midwife or other type of medical professional?

If you were to have another child in this country, would you do anything differently in terms of preparation and/or the delivery?

If a friend of yours living in the same country were expecting a baby, what advice would you give her?
