Living in El Tunco

Cost of Living

Living in El Tunco is usually more expensive than in a typical inland Salvadoran town, largely because tourism has pushed up prices for rent, food, and services near the beach. Simple local options still exist, but anything close to the surf strip tends to cost more, especially in high season. Imported goods and short-term rentals can be noticeably pricey, while everyday life becomes cheaper once you move away from the immediate beachfront. The overall feel is not luxury-level, but it is no longer a low-cost backwater either.

Healthcare in El Tunco

El Tunco itself does not have a major hospital. Basic clinics and first-aid services are available locally, but more serious care usually means traveling to La Libertad or San Salvador for larger private hospitals and specialist treatment.
