Bathsheba is a small, picturesque village located on the rugged east coast of Barbados. It is well-known for its dramatic and breathtaking scenery, characterized by the large rock formations that sit in the Atlantic Ocean, which are remnants of ancient coral reefs. The village is a popular destination for surfers due to the Soup Bowl, a spot famous for its challenging waves and international surfing competitions. Bathsheba also offers a glimpse into the more laid-back and natural side of Barbados, contrasting with the more developed west coast. The area is less commercialized and provides a tranquil escape for those looking to enjoy the island's natural beauty. Visitors can explore the Andromeda Botanic Gardens, which showcase a wide variety of tropical plants, or relax in the natural pools formed by the coral reef. The community here is small and tight-knit, with a mix of local residents and a few small guesthouses, restaurants, and bars catering to tourists. The village's charm is further enhanced by the remnants of old chattel houses and the presence of fishermen going about their daily routines, offering a true sense of Barbadian culture and lifestyle.
