The setting is what makes it: surrounded by olive groves that descend into a vast valley, with the Gulf of Corinth visible in the distance on clear days. Winter brings snow to the upper elevations. The town has grown modestly over recent decades but retains the feel of a place defined by its singular purpose and its unforgiving topography.
