Digital Nomad Life in Micronesia

By Betsy Burlingame

Summary: Micronesia is not a popular destination for digital nomads. The most popular cities for digital nomads are usually larger cities with more amenities and infrastructure, such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Ho Chi Minh City. Digital nomads like living in Micronesia because of its low cost of living, beautiful beaches, and friendly locals. A digital nomad can live on a monthly budget of around $1,000 in Micronesia. This budget can cover basic living expenses such as accommodation, food, and transportation. The culture of Micronesia is a mix of traditional and modern influences. The locals are friendly and welcoming, and the islands are known for their laid-back atmosphere. Foods popular in Micronesia include seafood, rice, and tropical fruits. Traditional dishes include kelaguen, a dish made with coconut milk, lemon juice, and fish, and tinola, a soup made with chicken, vegetables, and ginger.
