Real Estate in Senegal

By Joshua Wood, LPC

Last updated on Feb 02, 2024

Summary: An expat looking to buy a home in Senegal should start by researching the local real estate market. They should look for listings on websites such as Immobilier.sn, Dakar-Immo, and Dakar-Villas. They should also consider contacting a local real estate agent for assistance. Foreigners are allowed to own property in Senegal, but they must obtain a permit from the Ministry of Interior. Houses in Senegal typically include basic amenities such as running water, electricity, and a kitchen. Some may also include air conditioning, a swimming pool, and a garden.

How do I find a place to live in Senegal?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"One way to find a place to live in Senegal is to search online for rental listings. Websites such as Expat.com, EasyExpat.com, and Senegal-Property.com offer listings of apartments, houses, and other types of rental properties in Senegal. Additionally, you can search for rental listings on classifieds websites such as Craigslist and OLX. You can also contact local real estate agents to help you find a place to live in Senegal. Finally, you can ask friends and family who live in Senegal for recommendations," explained one expat living in Senegal.
