What do people find most challenging about the culture in Fairylands?

"Expats in Fairylands often find the high cost of living to be a significant challenge, as the island is known for its expensive housing, groceries, and dining. The slower pace of life, often referred to as "island time," can also be a difficult adjustment for those accustomed to a faster, more urgent pace. Additionally, the limited availability of certain goods and services can be frustrating for some. The local dialect and accents can also pose a challenge for newcomers, making communication difficult at times. Lastly, while Bermuda is a beautiful and welcoming place, some expats may experience a sense of isolation due to its geographical location," explained one person living in Fairylands, Bermuda.

What residency documents or visas did I need if I will be in Fairylands for a while?

"If you are planning to stay in Fairylands for an extended period, you will need to apply for a long-term visa or residency permit. The type of visa or permit you need will depend on the purpose of your stay. If you are planning to work, you will need a work permit. If you are planning to study, you will need a student visa. In addition to the visa or permit, you will also need a valid passport. The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the date you plan to leave Bermuda. You may also need to provide proof of financial means to support yourself during your stay, as well as proof of accommodation. This could be a bank statement, a letter from your employer, or a lease agreement. If you are planning to bring a vehicle or pet with you, additional documentation may be required. It's important to note that immigration laws can change, so it's always a good idea to check with the Bermuda Department of Immigration or your local embassy for the most up-to-date information," said one expat in Fairylands.

What cultural blunders should I try to avoid making in Fairylands?

We asked people in Fairylands if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. They wrote:

"In Fairylands, it's important to respect the local customs and traditions. Avoid wearing revealing clothing, especially in religious or formal settings, as it is considered disrespectful. It's also considered impolite to refuse an invitation to someone's home. If you're invited, it's customary to bring a small gift for the host. Avoid discussing sensitive topics such as politics and religion, unless the other person initiates the conversation. Bermudians are generally polite and reserved, so try to avoid loud or boisterous behavior. It's also important to respect the environment. Don't litter or disturb wildlife, and always follow local guidelines when visiting natural areas. Tipping is customary in Bermuda, so be sure to tip appropriately in restaurants, taxis, and other service industries. Finally, remember that Bermudians drive on the left side of the road. If you're not used to this, it can be easy to forget and accidentally walk or drive on the wrong side, which can be dangerous," explained one expat living in Fairylands, Bermuda.
