What do expats find most challenging?

Answer this Question

We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in St Francis Bay. They wrote...

"Expats in St Francis Bay, often find the language barrier to be a significant challenge, as the local population primarily speaks Afrikaans or Xhosa. The pace of life can also be a challenge for those accustomed to a faster, more hectic lifestyle, as things tend to move more slowly in this small coastal town. Some expats may also struggle with the local customs and social norms, which can be quite different from those in Western countries. The high crime rate in South Africa can also be a concern, although St Francis Bay is generally considered to be safer than larger cities. Lastly, while South Africa has a diverse and multicultural society, racial tensions and inequality can still be an issue, which can be difficult for some expats to navigate," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to St Francis Bay, South Africa.
