What do expats find most challenging?
We asked expats and digital nomads what they find the most challenging about the local culture in English Harbour. They wrote...
"Expats in English Harbour often find the slower pace of life challenging, as the local culture values a relaxed and unhurried lifestyle, which can be a stark contrast to the fast-paced life they may be used to. The local dialect, which is a mix of English and Creole, can also be difficult to understand for those not familiar with it. Additionally, the local customs and etiquette, such as the importance of personal relationships and respect for elders, may be different from what expats are accustomed to. The island's infrastructure can also be a challenge, as it may not be as developed as in other countries. Lastly, the high cost of living, particularly for imported goods, can be a significant challenge for expats living in English Harbour," commented one expat who made the move to English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda.
