Will I save money living in Budapest?
We asked expats if they save money living in Budapest. They said...
"Yes! While AFA/VAT (aka sales tax) is 27% (lower now on some items like pork etc), items are in most cases cheaper than in the US. Some items are not so much like electronics," remarked another expat in Budapest, Hungary.
"Living in Budapest can be significantly cheaper than living in the United States. The cost of living in Hungary is generally lower than in the US, with rent, groceries, and transportation being much more affordable. Additionally, the cost of entertainment and leisure activities is also lower in Hungary. As a result, many people find that they can save money by living in Budapest compared to the US," said a member in Budapest, Hungary.
