What are healthcare services like in Bridgetown?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Bridgetown. They wrote...
"Healthcare services in Bridgetown are generally of a high standard, with both public and private healthcare facilities available. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the main public healthcare facility in the city, offering a wide range of services including emergency care, surgical procedures, and specialist treatments. There are also several private clinics and hospitals in Bridgetown that offer a variety of medical services, often with shorter waiting times than public facilities. The city is also home to many pharmacies, dental clinics, and other healthcare providers. Healthcare in Bridgetown is generally affordable, with the government providing free healthcare services to citizens and residents at public facilities. However, private healthcare can be expensive, and it is recommended to have health insurance. The healthcare staff in Bridgetown are generally well-trained and professional, and many doctors and nurses have been trained overseas. Despite this, there can be a shortage of healthcare professionals, particularly specialists, which can lead to long waiting times for certain treatments," explained one expat living in Bridgetown, Barbados.
