Will I need to travel to see a specialist?
When we asked members in Coronado if they typically need to travel to see specialists, they replied...
"Yes, there are a good number of medical specialists in Coronado. People in the area can access general practitioners, dentists, optometrists, and specialists in a variety of fields. For highly specialized medical care, people typically travel to Panama City, which is the largest city in the country and has a wide range of medical facilities. These include hospitals, clinics, and research centers that offer advanced treatments and procedures," remarked another expat who made the move to Coronado, Panama.
"You must go to Panama City an hour away and you must have Cash! No one will take insurance and treat you. Credit cards are not accepted nor are checks. All care even surgery must be paid for before any care is given. They will refuse care and put you on the street regardless of your condition. ," explained one expat living in Coronado, Panama.
