To apply for a temporary residence visa, you must provide proof of your identity and nationality, a valid passport and two passport-size photographs, copies of all your documents, paperwork proving that you have enough funds to sustain yourself during your stay, and documents proving that you have family or business ties in Mexico. Once you have submitted these documents, you must wait for approval before traveling to Mexico. Once you arrive in Mexico, you must register with the National Immigration Institute before you can obtain your residency permit.
