We asked expat moms who gave birth in Austria about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said...

"I would suggest she find a good midwife, and cover all the bases and communicate exactly all her options so that everything is understood before the labor begins. I would have her tour the hospital, ask questions etc.," remarked another expat in Graz, Austria.

"Firstly, make sure to research birthing practices in Austria ahead of time - from the types of birthing options available to health insurance requirements. Secondly, consider finding an expat friendly and English speaking doctor you can trust. Thirdly, take advantage of the generous baby supplies and equipment available to purchase in Austria. Fourth, don’t be afraid to join an expat group, as the parents can share experiences and give advice for raising children in Austria. And lastly, have a backup plan in case there are any delays or problems with visas or registration," said a member in Austria.
