What should I pack when moving to Oracabessa?
We asked people living in Oracabessa to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Oracabessa, you should pack lightweight clothing due to the tropical climate, including shorts, t-shirts, and swimwear. Don't forget to pack a few formal outfits for special occasions or dining out. A rain jacket or umbrella is also essential as Jamaica experiences frequent rain showers. Pack plenty of sun protection items such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat, as the sun can be quite strong. Comfortable walking shoes and sandals are a must, especially if you plan on exploring the local area or going on hikes. Remember to bring your personal toiletries, although most items can be purchased locally. If you take prescription medication, bring enough to last for your initial period, along with a copy of your prescription. Pack your important documents, such as your passport, driver's license, and any necessary immigration paperwork. It's also a good idea to have copies of these documents. If you plan on working or studying, bring any necessary work materials or school supplies, as these may be more expensive to purchase in Jamaica. Don't forget your electronics, such as your phone, laptop, and chargers. An international adapter may also be necessary. Lastly, consider packing some comfort items from home, such as favorite snacks, books, or photos, to help you settle into your new home," explained one expat living in Oracabessa, Jamaica.
