"Uruguay is generally considered to be a safe country with low levels of crime. However, there have been reports of petty crime such as pickpocketing and theft in some areas, particularly in Montevideo. Violent crime is relatively rare, but it does occur in some areas. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and take sensible precautions when travelling in Uruguay," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Uruguay.
