Before moving to Altos del Maria, expats should be aware that the area is quite remote and the infrastructure is limited. English is not widely spoken, so it is important to brush up on Spanish before arriving. The climate is tropical and humid, with temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the mid-90s. Expats should also be aware that the cost of living is relatively low, but the availability of goods and services may be limited. Finally, expats should be aware that the area is prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes," commented one expat who made the move to Altos del Maria.
